The following is from IMDb.com:

Producers Scrap Jurassic Park 4

Movie producers have ruled out a fourth Jurassic Park blockbuster - because the story died with author Michael Crichton.

The sci-fi writer passed away in November aged 66 after losing his battle against cancer.

And moviemakers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy have made no further progress with plans for another film in the franchise - because Crichton's death was "a sign" for them to walk away from the idea.

When asked by reporters from CelebrityTruth.com if there has been any development on a fourth Jurassic Park movie, Kennedy answered "No" before adding: "I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."

The rumors of "Jurassic Park 4" started with laughable cyborg robots with guns and then came word that it would get a 2009 start date shortly after. Sadly today comes news that "Jurassic Park 4" is very much dead. And no the rumors of cyborg dinosaurs were not true. They had planned a "Jurassic Park 4" but because of the death of Michael Crichton they have decided its likely not a good idea. In an interview with ComingSoon Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy revealed it was probably a better idea to leave the film franchise alone. What do you think? Another sequel? Or leave it alone? ...

Jurassic Park 4 Not So Dead

Yesterday here producer Frank Marshall, one of the people in charge of getting the long rumored fourth Jurassic Park off the ground, spoke about the future of his dinos. He didn't see one. Marshall made it pretty clear that he didn't see any point in continuing to try and do another movie, and so we all ran out and sadly declared the Jp franchise dead. Not so fast. It seems that even though Marshall is no longer interested in making Jurassic Park 4, Universal Pictures still is. According to Hr, though Universal has decided not to renew it's production deal with Frank Marshall, they still have both he and his producing partner Kathleen Kennedy working on Jurassic Park 4 and Bourne 4 for them. This actually confirms something we heard from one of our sources last week, that Universal is getting involved and is keen to get another dino movie done.

I'd read about how they trashed the idea earlier, but I think it would have been a sweet idea if they like made it in his memory...

Well, the last bit seemed a little hopeful, so I've still got my fingers crossed. I never got to see any of the Jurassic Park movies in theaters so I REALLY want to see the dinos on the big screen.

It's weird though, I never did hear anything about them scrapping JP4. It was only the disappearance of the page on IMDb that made me do some searching. You'd have thought something like that would have shown up in the Jeff Goldblum google alerts or SOMETHING. Ah well... Like I said, I'm still hopeful.

I'm thinking about buying a Jurassic Park box set too. :)
